My plan was to stay at home for the whole day, since I am broke anyway. At almost 4 p.m. I checked my online bank account and saw that salary came early!!! What a waste - I should have checked earlier! I quickly scrambled out of bed, washed my hair, prayed Zuhr and then shortly after, Asr, put on my most comfy pair of H&M cotton pants, a cotton t-shirt, and my laziest scarf (no ironing required). Who cares what I look like. I am an old lady today. I just felt like wearing something comfortable.
The first place I went to was Masjid Jamek. I bought two scarves, one in emerald green and one in cream, for two of my wedding outfits. I went to several textile stores to buy organza material to turn into a veil for my wedding, but they were either sold out in white and cream, or did not have the material at all. One store had it but the price was twice that of the others so I decided not to buy it. Now that I think about it, it is still cheaper than ready-made veils AND I do not have time to look for the material elsewhere!! Today is my only free day!
I tried to use my white chiffon scarf as a veil but it made me look like a sheikh (if you know what I mean). You know, when they put on the cloth on their head which flows down to their back. Or maybe it's just me. I don't know.
Then I had my iftar at McDonald's, because I had craved for their foldover since the start of Ramadhan. It was good, but I wish it had more sauce. They gave me a free Frozen Coca-Cola because I paid by card, but it tasted weird so I did not finish it. The foldover came with an iced lemon tea anyway, plus I received a free mini mineral water at the LRT station. These are some of the things that I love during Ramadhan. People are so generous and nice. For example (besides the free mineral water), even though people do not know each other, they would let Muslims know that it is time for iftar. And, of course, the festive menus at restaurants, such as the foldover at McDonald's. Apart from that one argument I had with that lady about the parking space, I have had an awesome Ramadhan so far.
Alhamdulillah.
Lots of love,
Sofiya
